If the domain owner does not renew his domain by the expiration date of the domain, it goes into an expired state. For 40 days, the domain is in a grace period when all the services are shut down.

After 40 days, the status changes into a redemption period. During this period, the whoisinformation disappears and reactivating a domain during this period costs an additional fees. After the completion of the redemption phase, the domain status changes to “locked” and the domain enters a deletion phase.

The deletion phase is 5 days long .The domain name is officially dropped from the ICANN database on the last day between 11 am and 2 pm Pacific time and is available for registration by anybody .
